Saturday I slept in until 1:30 PM. It's been awhile since I've done that, so it was nice. The Husky game was a bit painful to watch, though. So much hope, so much disappointment.
Sunday, however, was a great day. Got up at 6:30 and went surfing, but not by myself like usual. I had the good company of a lady I recently met through a friends. She took some surfing lessons while she was living in Bali, and was really excited to go out here in the states. She's good people, I'll definitely have to hang out with her again. The surf sucked. Flat as a board. But it was a beautiful day at the beach and the good company made up for the bad surf.
Then I went to a show at the Rock and Roll Hotel here in DC. The perks of working at a bar in a cool neighborhood - knowing all the other bar employees on the block. Myself and a couple of other people I work with got in for free, dirt cheap (practically free) drinks, shuffled backstage to get right up front for the show. It was Damien Jurardo and Okkerville River. Damien Jurardo is from Seattle, a folksy singer-songwriter. The last time I saw him was at Ground Zero, the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, back in High School. There were about ten people at that show, so it was cool to see him play in front of 300 people last night, and it brought back many memories of high school (ugh). Okkerville River was fantastic. A great live band. My manager at the bar is a terrifyingly huge fan of theirs. Really, she's obsessed, it's kind of frightening.
A good weekend. Coming to work this morning made me a little pissed off.
